11/16/2025 Program: John Woolman Visits Bucks Quarterly Meeting.
In the presentation, Charles Bruder, Director of The John Woolman Memorial, spoke about John Woolman. Woolman was led by the light within and guided by God’s eternal truth in every action. As a Quaker and one of thirteen children born to Samuel and Elizabeth (Hudson Burr) Woolman in Rancocas, New Jersey, he dedicated his entire adult life to the abolition of slavery and all other forms of social evil and injustice. Guided by his wholehearted obedience to God and his love for his fellow man and God’s creation, he cautioned people to consider their spiritual destiny and the future of mankind if they continued to accept and participate in enslavement, oppression of the poor, inequality, wasteful consumption, cruelty to animals, and war. His contribution to the abolishment of enslavement and to the spiritual health of society are immeasurable.
